Welcome to the site of Sabor A Timba an Afro -Caribean Latin Jazz Group. Here you will find information about the group, based in Hartford, Connecticut.

Sabor A Timba takes musical forms from the "Caribe Hispano" and blends it with a touch of Jazz standards from the '40's 50's and with its extended version of trombone, trumpets, sax/ flute, bongoes and singer plays"Salsa Gorda"  from the '60's and '70's.

The quintet is formed by: David Gonzalez / David Yi on piano, Art "Junior" Clinton on bass, Ahmed Gonzalez on flute / small percusion, Hiram "El Tipico" Rivera on timbales and Victor "Papo" Sterling  leader on tumbadoras and percussion.

Styles Performed

Afro-Borin-Cuban percussion styles such as mambo, cha-cha-cha, son, guarachas,bombas (and a few guaguancos occasionally) are included in the repertory.
